About Our Title

At the recital for Richard Floeckher's piano students, one of the selections on the program was Three Pieces in the Form of a Pear.

        HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ?

I mostly relaxed and thought of the birthday person.

        HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ?

I started riding the bus again, and I was reminded of the things I didn't like about riding the bus, but it is a "free" ride. I am guessing I'll save $25 to $30 a month.

I discovered the ticket written for my car in the loading dock may have prevented me from being forgiven for the ticket because I was put in the category of "disregarding posted sign" instead of "no permit displayed." I have applied for an official 30 minute dock permit.

Marcie Ehmann with news about a friend who got e-mail from an ex-boyfriend 12 YEARS AFTER THE BREAKUP BY PHONE. Marcie said Claire's play went well, but the littlest Ehmann, Keith, didn't like the play. Marcie said that my experience with the microwave was like stuff teachers have to deal with all the time.

Tracey and I had ice cream at Graeter's on Colerain near Northgate Mall. Tracey is still unemployed, but she is not worried yet.

Mike Providenti called and said he had finished an article which he hopes to have published. He wanted to stop by the Language Resource Center to pick up and drop off some DVDs that did not finalize on his home machine.

Kelley Zinkan-Puthoff sent me an e-mail thanking me for a card I had sent her. She's doing well enough, but she's having to make adjustments being in management at her job now. Things are great with the young daughter and the husband. Kelley said she likes the Newsletter better when I write about myself as a journal more than when I try to report about people Kelley has not met. It's an attitude I can appreciate.

It was a day of unexpected requests. I was glad it was Friday so the weirdness would end at 4:00 for sure.

Shannon Rose sent an e-mail forward about alternate language to a first impulse.

I went to the recital put on by Richard Floeckher's piano students. I saw K.F. there and the parents of the couple. The recital was interesting and worthwhile. There was a pot luck dinner afterwards which I availed myself of.

-- May 6, 2007 --

I cleaned my fish tank (and lived). The surprise snail is still there, and so far has not grown to be too big.

-- May 7, 2007 --

K.F. and I went to Skyline after work and caught up on a few things.

-- May 8, 2007 --

Groovy! My loading dock pass was issued. Now I can park in the Old Chem loading dock without fear of a ticket. (Apparently, the dock pass is good for other loading docks on campus--except Tangemen University Center.)

Nothing kept me from leaving work at 4:00 as planned. When I got home, I found that Halloween had eaten about half her food, and she did not eat much more later. I hope this is not another return to worrisome times. She was doing so well until a few days ago.

        HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ?

Today was the first time I added info to a Wikipedia page. I updated the publication history of the Nexus comic book. After a 10 year absence, the series is coming back and continuing where the story left off. Something to look forward to in July.

Another old friend from high school found my listing on Classmates.com and contacted me. My friend has led a much more vibrant and interesting life than I have, and she's back in Cincinnati just a few miles from where I live. Curious. Among the things my friend mentioned were that she still plays violin, learned to sing along the way, and also plays "'chord' piano, badly." She has lived and worked on several continents, has been mauled by her own Pit Bull, helped save an Afghan warlord and crossed the Sahara. She is now living with another classmate of mine, and she is raising various young people, her own and African youngsters she keeps importing. I'd certainly be interested in learning the long story behind the imported kids as well as the many other adventures of D.

I got some exercise. I bought some 2 cent stamps. I watched the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship. I watched some forensic shows and some cartoons.
I tried to connect to a work website, but the database was not connecting properly. Fortunately, it is no rush. I can do what I was trying by the end of the week.

I noticed again that Halloween was eating less, and I may have to take her back to the vet tomorrow.
